While for neither criticism nor reviews, “Shadows & Silence” is a forum to contextualize film history and appreciate it. It will also explore film as Literature.
Its purpose is to sustain important films from 1895 forward, and to celebrate those films which need to endure through our shared history.
Selected discussions and essays will be about both familiar and unfamiliar movies, and it is always assumed readers have seen the films in question or are at least somewhat familiar with them.
These movies are not necessarily the ones judged “greatest” ever produced, but they are each in their own way significant and the discussions will focus on the reasons for their significance.
